Certains de mes westerns favoris, comme L’Étrange incident (William A. Wellman, 1942), avaient ouvert la voie. Cela m’a paru le sujet idéal pour réaliser ce que j’appellerais « le dernier des westerns ». C’est un film qui résume au fond ce que le genre représente pour moi.
